Design and Looks
The design of the phone is simply out of this world. The people at Sony Ericsson sure know how to make a stylish phone. While the silent black may look very plain, the morning white version features a nifty design; the front flap of the phone has silhouettes of trees and leaves while the back is textured to help make gripping the phone easier.
A neat feature of the phone is the icon display in the front which is basically sets of lights arranged in dot-matrix patterns. There are four sets of icons, indicating new message, incoming call, missed call and silent. The appropriate icon lights up when an event takes place.
On opening the flap, you are presented with a large keypad; unfortunately, the keypad is almost flat offering no touch-orientation. So, if you are a speed demon texter who likes to type without even glancing down at the phone, you better consider other models.
The camera is of the lowest quality so don't complain about it either, it's good enough to take very basic pictures for MMS purposes and does not offer video recording. Other features worth a mention are MMS, sound recorder, WAP internet browser and polyphonic ringtones.
What's really lacking in this phone is Bluetooth, and the excuse that “it's a basic phone” does not apply anymore because the Bluetooth technology has percolated down to the basic phone market and is now as obvious a feature as predictive text input.
The phone serves the basic purpose of calling and sending messages and also offers the styling of a phone several times its price.
