Design and Looks
The W705 stands at a 95x47.5x14.3mm and weighs about 98g. The phone has a slider form factor and overall has a good finish to the surface. The surface on the handset is colored with a mix of silver and gold, with a black plate having brown gold Walkman logo.
The sliding mechanism on the phone has a good sturdy feel laying out a 3 by 4 combination of alphanumeric keypad. Though the keys seem to be crammed in the panel it still turns out a good feedback for your fingers even at fast speeds. The right spine of the phone contains the volume rocker and the camera shutter.
The screen on the phone is a 320x240 pixel display with a size of 2.4 inches and can display colors up to 256K. The screen output is bright with good color reproduction. The sunlight eligibility is also good and the phone performs extremely well even under direct sunlight.
The camera on board the phone is a 3.2 megapixel sensor which does not have any auto focus and a simplified interface compared to most of the Cyber shot series phone. The phone also offers white balance, preset effects and night mode which give it a nice functionality. The images shot have good quality and pleasing colors. The images have a good color reproduction and the sensor can also record videos at QVGA resolution at about 15 frames per second.
The music player on the W705 performs quite well and as expected from a Walkman series phone. The player functions well and supports various features such as the album art equalizer and some presets for manual adjustments. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack included on the handset thus making it a good add on to have giving you the option to use your favorite earphones. Also included is the Radio which comes along with the RDS feature and provides the station and the song information.
The memory on board the phone comprises of 120MB of internal memory and ships out with a 4GB of memory stick card.
There are automatic up loaders available for Picassa, Myspace and Blogger which can get your photos online within no time and without any hassle. Some of the other applications included on the phone are mobile email, calendar , task manager , AccuWeather and Sony Ericsson Video DJ and also the Music DJ.
The battery life on the phone gives 10 hours of talk and 400 hours of standby.
Overall the phone is a comfortable easy to use device with good average functionality and provides a fully featured specs to the end user.
