Design and Looks
The phone stands at 100x45x13mm and weighs about 82g making it a very light phone which is easy to carry and slips through nicely through all the pocket size. The phone comes with a brushed metallic finish on the top part of the phone and the back.
The screen on the device is a 1.7 inches wide and displays a maximum resolution of 128x160 pixels. The display supports up to 65,000 colors. Below the display there are two soft keys which are covered and silver in colour. Below them the two keys comprise of the call and end key respectively.
The alphanumeric keypad on the phone is well spaced out and has a good rubberized or plastic texture to the surface of the keys making it a pleasure to type for long durations and even faster.
The camera on the phone features a 1.3 Mega pixel camera with the images captured at highest resolution of 1280x1024 pixels. The interface for the camera is simple and there are no extra features present. The other multimedia feature included on the phone is the FM radio which is a good feature considering no expansion slot available on the phone.
The internal memory on the phone comprises of 10MB with 300 contact on the phonebook and 30 received, dialed and missed calls on call records.
Some of the other applications included on the phone are the Organizer, stopwatch and T9mode.
On the communication front the Sony Ericsson T280i features only GPRS and does not have support for EDGE or 3G nor Wi-Fi. For the local communication the phone supports Bluetooth compatibility only and there is no support even for USB.
The battery on the phone is a Li-Po 780 mAh (BST-36) and gives a standby of 300 hours and up to 7 hours of talk time.
Overall the phone appears to be a phone with minimalistic features and designed to be used just as a phone targeting the entry level market.
