Design and Looks
The Sony Ericsson S302 provides a slim design handset in a candy bar form factor. The phone comes along in two colors. The phone has a metallic finish to the surface but gives a good grip in your hands with its design.
The S302 comes along with a passable alphanumeric keypad sporting the normal 3 by 4 combination of keys. The keys are nicely laid out and have a slightly bigger impression giving it a nice feedback. They do seem to be pressed in hard to register a moment but fair out well.
The screen on the S302 is a 2 inches wide screen capable of displaying 176x220 pixels. The TFT display can show up to 256K colors and has a good color reproduction. The Sunlight eligibility too on the phone is good and does an average job of staying well lighted even under direct sunlight.
On the communication front the phone is a quad phone making it usable worldwide. The phone comes along with GPRS and EDGE connectivity. There is no 3G nor WLAN onboard the device. For local connectivity the phone uses the Bluetooth and USB port.
The Multimedia specs on the phone include the 2 megapixel camera with LED flash. The camera can take images of 1600x1200 pixels. The images shot lack good color reproduction compared to the other models of Sony Ericsson but then all that said the phone is an entry level marketed device with which little could be expected.
The LED flash does well in semi low light situations but cannot go beyond that.
The music player and the FM radio on the handset have a mediocre performance and do not stand out completely. There is a button available on the sides which can turn on/off the music completely. It's a good feature usually required when you play your music out loud.
The overall performance of the phone is average and would appeal to people who would like to have a shiny phone making them heard around in a group.
