Design and Looks
The Sony Ericsson K770i is designed nicely with its soft rounded casing making it nice and comfortable to hold it in your palms. The dimension of the phone stands at 105x47x14.5mm and weighs about 95g.
The phone offers a good alphanumeric keypad with the usual 3 by 4 combination. The keys seem to be slightly lifted up from the surface giving a good time typing on the surface. Fast texters and regular ones would appreciate it a lot as they would be able to go on with the keyboard for much longer time without hurting their fingers.
The display on the phone comprises of 1.9 inches screen which is capable of displaying 240x320 pixels and at 256K colors. The screen has good sunlight eligibility and does a decent job outdoors even in bright sunlight. The color reproduction is good which is quite a normal feature with the Sony Ericsson brand.
The user interface on the device is a standard interface which is on most of the Sony Ericsson's phones apart from the Smart phones. The interface is quite similar to the older models but the highlight is the Flash theme inclusion which does spice up things around with this phone.
The multimedia feature set on the phone includes the music player which is compatible of playing MP3, AAC, AAC+, E-AAC+, WAV, WMA,M4A and MIDI. The audio output on the phone is exceptional and as an interface features the Walkman player version 1.0. The music player does not support MegaBass as compared to the other models. The phone supports multi tasking and is able to work in the background without any hassle.
The video player on the device does a decent job and can play videos in landscape mode. It also supports zoom functionality up to 32x.
The camera on the Sony Ericsson K770 features the 3 megapixel sensor which includes autofocus camera with a LED flash. The camera offers night mode, self timer, panorama, frames and burst shooting modes . There are various functions such as the white balance control and scene specific modes available in the interface which can make taking pictures creative on the handset.
The picture quality is great and come out with excellent color reproduction having a balanced contrast and brightness levels.
On the communication front the phone supports Class 10 GPRS but does not have any EDGE capabilities. But the phone has a 3G which is a big boost on the device considering the rapid growth around the world with 3G connections. There is no WLAN and for local connections the phone uses the Bluetooth and USB version 2.0.
The battery backup provided by the phone is decent and does a pretty good job of providing talk time of 10 hours and stand by time of 400 hours.
In conclusion the Sony Ericsson K770 stands out to be a mid range phone featuring a decent camera and a good build quality. The phone gives a good stylish range to the end user without going overboard with the price tag.
