Design and Looks
The design of the handset makes it easy to handle the phone and also its weight makes it very easy to carry it around. The phone stands at 106x49x13 mm and weights about 99g thus explaining why it's easy to carry it around.
The screen on the phone is a 2.4 incher with 240x320 pixel display which is a TFT resistive touch screen and has the capacity to display about 65,000 colors.
The screen is followed up by a large D-pad which is 5 way directional and comes along with two short keys namely the note-it on the left and the messaging key on the right side of the D-pad.
The keypad on the phone is a standard alphanumeric keypad which is nicely laid out and has equal amount of spacing between the keys making it nice and easy to type.
The left side of the phone consists of a multi-purpose port which is used for both charging and USB connectivity. The right side of the phone houses the volume control, a keypad Lock key and the camera key.
The interface on the Symbian is the new UIQ version 3 which is the latest from Symbian and thus allows smooth working of multiple application running at the same time. The processor on the phone is the P1i which is a 206Mhz processor. The internal memory on the phone is about 160MB which is large enough to make things smoother. The home screen features shortcuts such as the favorite shortcuts, music player shortcuts, Bookmarks , Calendar, Photos and Messaging.
The camera on the phone is a whooping 5 megapixel sensor which comes an LED flash and also sports an image stabilization onboard. The photos are above average when taken with the handset and provide good detail considering a 5 Megapixel sensor. The handset also can capture video at 30fps making it a good video recorder.
The music player on the Sony Ericsson offers a great quality and with the add on good quality headset sounds even better. The player supports album art and also MegaBass Equalizer preset. There is also an FM tuner included on the phone which can be an interesting feature when bored with the usual library or for any current events.
The phone features a decent battery and comes equipped with a 950 mAh with a talk time of 12 hours.
Overall the phone targets the business population with its steep price and the office apps included on the Symbian interface plus an added 5 megapixel camera. The price of the phone would be enough to keep the regular buyers out from the category.
