Design and Looks
The Sony Ericsson C902 is a sleek designed phone with dimensions of 108x49x10.5mm and weighs about 107g. The phone comes in a metal casing and glossy surface and is available in 4 different colors.
The handset features a normal form factor with alphanumeric keypad. The keypad seems to be tightly packed with little space between the keys making it a little difficult for consumers with bigger hands. The keys are soft and tactile enough though. There's good backlight on the keyboard making it easily usable in the night.
The display on the phone is a 2 inch in size with a maximum resolution of 240x320 pixels with a capacity of 256K colors. The display has great colors and is equally bright and with vibrant colors. The screen on the C902 also features an accelerometer for auto screen rotation.
The interface on the phone is spiced up with new features. It includes rich multimedia capabilities and a nice main menu structure with rotating and single icon view.
The camera on the phone includes a 5 mega pixel camera which includes an autofocus and various features like the face detection, image and video stabilizer, Best Pic, auto-rotate, macro mode, Photo flash and so on.
Around the display the phone features eight touch sensitive display controls that backlight in blue and are active only in camera mode and are responsible for switching between video and camera. It also includes accessing the photo gallery, changing the autofocus mode, shoot mode, scenes, timer and flash mode.
The camera interface is vast but easy enough to give you fast shots whenever you require them.
The audio player can play all the normal formats available and does a good job with its Walkman series player. The video player is decent and plays all the normal formats.
On the communication side the phone offers GSM/HSCSD/GPRS/EDGE and 3G too. For local connectivity the phone gets a Bluetooth and USB support onboard.
Overall the phone is designed to be aimed at consumers looking for a high end camera phone with decent multimedia facilities like a good audio player and video capabilities. The phone does a decent job with all of them and acts solid.
