Design and Looks
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a compact device and offers a handset completely made of plastic. The materials used are good and do not give any picture of a budget phone. The phone has a sliding form factor and the sliding mechanism seems to be safe and sturdy.
The screen on the phone is a 2.4 inch display capable of showing a maximum resolution of 240x320 pixels and can display up to 256K colors. The screen features an accelerometer which auto rotates the screen into landscape and portrait mode. The display has good colors and is extremely pleasing even in direct sunlight.
The slider has a alphanumeric keypad and comes with a 3 by 4 combination of keys and does a pretty good job. The keys seem to be nicely spaced out on the keyboard and thus provide a good feedback even for fast texters.
The phone offers a Walkman key on the top and which invokes the music player automatically.
The interface on the phone is pretty impressive and sports the new Flash Lite themes. The accelerometer helps in autorotation of the screen in the multimedia menu as well as in the web browser. The company has also integrated a You tube Client on the device which is very neatly presented and performs quite well too.
The internal memory on the phone extends to 100MB and there is a Memory Stick Micro slot on the left edge. The card is provided with the phone.
The camera on the device contains a 3.15MP sensor and is able to shoot images with a highest resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. There is LED flash included on the phone and it also offers geo tagging onboard. The camera has a decent output and average color reproduction on the images shot from the camera. The low light photo graphs taken lack exposure even with the LED flash. The camera is also capable of recording videos in QVGA quality at 15 fps.
On the communication front the phone offers a quad band handset and comes along with support for GPRS, EDGE, 3G and even Wi-Fi making. For local connectivity the phone offers Bluetooth with A2DP and also USB version 2.0.
Also included on the phone are various applications such as TrackID, VideoDJ, PhotoDJ, MusicDJ, Bluetooth, sound recorder and so on.
The battery on the phone is capable of providing 10 hours of talk time and 400 hours of stand-by time.
Overall the phone offers a decent features onboard and appeals to the mid range market as a Cyber shot phone. The specs on the phone offer a very good package and value for money.
